As the largest retailer in the United States, Walmart is a discount department store known for its low prices and cheap products. The retail giant has more than 4600 stores in all fifty US states, and thousands more stores in international markets. Walmart sells products in most departments, like household, health & beauty, clothing, shoes, automotive, electronics, cleaning, outdoors and so many others.
Opening his first store in Rogers, Arkansas in 1962 Sam Walton’s strategy was to provide the lowest possible prices to customers of his store. The company grew very quickly and had 24 stores within five years. Over the years, the company added additional services and eventually grew into Walmart Supercenters which including services such as pharmacy, video rental stores, nail salons, portrait studios and more. By 1991, Walmart had gone global and it still continues in its mammoth growth today.
