Aldi - Store

Aldi is a chain of more than discount, no-frills grocery stores that are located in many countries in Europe and Asia, as well as operating more than 2200 stores in 38 states in the United States. The store concept is to keep everything simple and small, cutting operating costs that can be passed on to the consumer. Aldi stocks the basics that families need such as meats, produce, baked goods and pantry items, working hard to source foods from local farmers that are fresh and in-season.

Aldi - History

Starting in 1961, the Albrecht family opened the first discount grocery store in Germany. By 1976, the brand had grown internationally, and its first store was opened in the United States, in the state of Iowa. As the company continued to grow over the past several decades, its quality has increased and the company now makes it own exclusive brand products.

Aldi - Promotions

Unlike many supermarkets or grocery stores, Aldi doesn’t run a lot of big sales on promotional items. Instead, they offer low prices every day, with special new products released weekly that are only stocked in limited supply. Check out the weekly flyer or website to see what’s hot at Aldi, and then head over the store to get it before it’s gone!

Aldi - News

For the fourth year in a row, Aldi has earned excellence awards for the way they take care of the environment. In September 2022, the EPA awarded Aldi with its Store Certification and RE-Certification Excellence Awards. Focused on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and working toward aggressive sustainability goals, the company has more stores recognized by the GreenChill certification program than any other food retail company.

Aldi - More Information

Aldi works to support different efforts in the communities where their stores are. From Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation to ALDI Cares Community Grants to Feeding America, the company works hard to support efforts toward making the world a better place. Not only that, but they encourage volunteerism within their employee base to organize local volunteer events throughout the year.
