Safeway - Store
An American chain of supermarkets located mostly in the Western United States, Safeway offers food, grocery items, general merchandise and goods from many other categories. With services such as pharmacy, floral and custom cakes, the stores also sell fresh produce, meat, deli, pantry products, dairy, frozen foods and more. Many Safeway stores also contain Starbucks coffee shops as well as fuel centers.
Safeway - History
The first Safeway store was opened in 1915 in American Falls, Idaho. The founder, S.M. Skaggs, was convinced that stores selling items on credit simply drove up the prices, so he established a store that required cash at the time of sale, as well as being an early innovator and implementer of self-service shops. The chain of stores grew throughout Idaho, Montana and Oregon in the next few years. With mergers and buyouts, the Safeway name brand grew and was eventually taken over by Albertsons in 2015. Safeway now runs more than 900 stores in the US.

In addition, Safeway customers can get access to more discounts through the Big Book of Savings, the Safeway Mobile App, the Safeway for U membership card and more. Plus, online shoppers can join the FreshPass subscription to receive unlimited free grocery delivery and more.
