Save a Lot - History
Founded in 1977, Save A Lot was started by Bill Moran when he wanted to offer an alternative to larger supermarkets that can be overwhelming and take a lot of time. The first store was opened in Cahokia, Illinois and the company grew throughout the state and the Midwest region. Now, the company operates more than 1850 stores in 32 states, featuring many of its own store brands and low prices.
Save a Lot - Promotions
Save A Lot offers tons of everyday low prices and also has a weekly ad where it features discounts, deals and coupons. In addition to viewing sales online, the store offers their customers the option to sign up for notifications in the Smart Shopper Club so they can always know what sales are on. Weekly ads change based on location, but some examples are two-for deals on soft drinks hamburger buns or shredded cheeses, or three-for deals on bottled waters. Another popular promo is the Pick Five mix and match deal from the fresh meat department.
Save a Lot - News
In 2020, Save A Lot went through a large transition, selling off the bulk of its stores to be run by independent grocery retailers. This allowed the company to diversify its holdings and function in a more wholesale capacity, furnishing the products the retails grocers need. The corporate offices are located in St. Louis, Missouri, so the company continues to retain control of more than a dozen stores in that market, using them to test and implement new programs and innovations.
Save a Lot - More Information
In the past couple of years, Save a Lot has been in the process of remodeling a large portion of its stores to a brighter, more attractive format. Store remodels have offered an enhanced shopping experience. Continuing to offer discounts and low prices, Save A Lot plans to have all of its stores remodeled by 2024.
