Northgate Market is a family-owned chain of retail grocery stores and supermarkets located in California. The stores sell food products to meet the needs of their customers, including a large array of Mexican products for an authentically Mexican experience. The retailer is known for meats and other specialty products, such as marinated carne asada and chorizo. Hot and cold food bars are also available in some locations with fresh spices, dried chiles, Mexican herbs, expanded cheeses, guacamole, artisan breads and so much more.
Started by an immigrant from Mexican, Don Miguel Gonzalez Jimenez, Northgate Market opened its first store in 1980 when he converted a liquor store to a grocery store in Anaheim, California. The store was run by Don Miguel and his thirteen children! One store grew to two and the company kept growing and now there are at least 40 Northgate Market stores in California.
Northgate Market has a weekly ad that launches every Tuesday with tons of discounts on various food and family products. Discounts may include deals on fresh meat and seafood, produce, pantry items, dairy products and so much more. Plus, the Northgate Pronto Curbside App allows customers to save on all of the products that are on sale in the store but pick them up curbside instead.
In October 2022, the Northgate Market family announced its plans to open another new store in Santa, Ana, California. This comes along with plans to close two smaller stores which are not as lucrative. Spending $25 million on the new Santa Ana store, the company will even provide a shuttle from one of its closed stores to its new store during the first holiday season, showing a commitment to their local community.
