One of the largest home improvement retail chains in the United States, Lowe’s operates more than 2200 stores in the United States and Canada. The stores offer tools, hardware, appliance, building supplies, carpet, lighting and other DIY items, as well as home décor and products such as party supplies. Lowe’s also caters to contractors and professionals, with special services and deals including Pro offers, credit and business resources.

Lowe's - History

When the first general store opened in 1921 in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, t was the launch of what is the Lowe’s chain today. Selling hardware and building materials, the store also sold general merchandise such as tackle, sewing notions, dry goods, groceries and more. By 1946, the first store dedicated to just hardware was opened. As the company grew, more hardware stores were added and the company becomes a national chain, focusing on professional contractors as customers.

Lowe’s provides sales and discounts each week, with discounts in all departments including percentages off and dollars off. In addition to weekly promotions, sales and discounts, Lowe’s customers can save by signing up for a Lowe’s Advantage credit card which allows for extra savings and often offers special low-interest or no-interest financing on certain purchases. Plus, the Lowe’s MVP Pro Rewards and Partnership Program is available to professionals who get a daily discount, gift card rewards and even free snacks.

In September 2022, Lowe’s pledged $2 million to help with disaster relief. In relation to the Hurricane Ian storm in Florida, Lowe’s is giving the money to help with catastrophic flooding and other damage. These funds will be used to provide food, emergency shelter and rebuilding supplies for those affected by the store.

To foster beneficial sleep for children and families in need, Lowe’s has partnered with Sleep in Heavenly Peace. The charitable organization holds an annual Bunks Across America drive to build and deliver quality bunk beds to those who need them. The goal for the 2022 event was to build over 7500 beds in just one day and Lowe’s donated more than $350,000 in products to support the program.
