Food Lion is an American grocery store chain that is headquartered in North Carolina. Food Lion offers over 1000 supermarkets in 10 states in the United States covering both Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic states. Food lion stores employ over 63,000 people. Food Lion focuses on freshness, especially in the meat department, but also offers all other types of diverse foods and basic home goods found in most grocery store chains.

Food Lion - History

Food Lion was founded in 1957 as Food Town, a single grocery store. Soon after, the store expanded to further locations across North Carolina. Originally, independently operated, Food Town was purchased by a Belgium based company and renamed in 1983 so it could expand to regions where Food Town already existed. Food Lion continues to grow and be a local favorite grocery store for many.
