By 1914, Isaac Van Westenbrugge’s small business got its first delivery vehicle, the first of its kind in Grand Rapids. The business saw its downsides and expansion. Eventually, the firm changed its name to Gordon Food Service in 1942, when Ben and Frank took over the business. In 1979, Gordon Food Service launched a Cash & Carry retail store known as Gordon Food Service Store to provide convenience for regular delivery clients in need of additional goods.
