Stop and Shop has a different history timeline, but according to the website, the Rabinowitz family founded Stop and Shop in 1914 in Somerville, Massachusetts. It started as a small grocery store company, growing to 15 stores by 1917. Initially, the stores only sold groceries, but later added fruits and veggies, frozen foods, dairy, and under food items. It had about 100 stores in 1959 and included non-food items in its products. Ahold Delhaize later acquired Stop and Shop in 1996, and it has witnessed growth under the parent company to date, boasting about 415+ stores across the U.S.
