Beaumont, Texas, Edward Eastham established the Eastham Plumbing and Heating Company in 1890. In 1931, the business was acquired by First National Bank of Beaumont, which changed its name to Plumbing and Heating, Inc. In 1933, Carol Washington Conn, Sr. was hired by Plumbing and Heating, Inc and changed the name of the company to Conn Plumbing and Heating Company. On Eleventh Street in Beaumont, the company's second store opened its doors in 1959. After service in the Korean War, C.W. Conn Jr. joined the company in 1953. He established Appliance Parts and Service, Conn's retail service repair and maintenance subsidiary company, in 1962 after realizing that clients needed trustworthy, high-quality service. He co-founded Conn Credit Corporation, a provider of retail credit lending services, in 1964.

It was announced on October 18 that Chandra Holt has left her position as president and CEO of Conn's Home Plus, a retailer of furniture, appliances, and electronics, after a little more than a year on the job. She will be replaced as interim president and CEO by former CEO Norman L. Miller. Conn also disclosed Holt's resignation and that the company remains challenged by macroeconomic headwinds, which are impacting consumer spending and disproportionately impacting year-over-year sales.
