A fairly recent addition to the world of supermarkets, the first Mariano’s opened in 2010. Starting out in Arlington Heights, Illinois, the store sold a wide range of items, including specialty food and drink items such as coffee and gelato. Other unique items include fresh sushi, a salad bar buffet, oyster and liquor bar, smoothies and juices and much more.

The Mariano’s Weekly Ad reveals big savings and hundreds of items all throughout the store. Customers can also sign up for the Mariano’s Rewards Card which gives them access to hundreds of digital coupons, Fuel points and more. In addition, Mariano’s customers can benefit from the Boost membership, which allows them to pay an annual fee of $59 and then enjoy free grocery delivery, double the fuel points and hundreds of dollars in savings.

A massive merger between Mariano’s and Jewel is in continued talks in the Chicago area. Kroger, the parent company of Mariano’s, is in process of purchasing Albertson’s, which is the parent company of the Jewel-Osco stores. Shoppers are concerned about what will happen if the merger goes through.
